Larry Hoffheimer served as a federal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice and spent 33 years as a practicing healthcare attorney in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, he represented numerous voluntary health agencies and healthcare professionals, advocating for advancements in neurological research and healthcare policy.
A passionate advocate for brain health, Mr. Hoffheimer spearheaded the advocacy efforts that led to the Congressional Resolution and Presidential Proclamation declaring the 1990s as “The Decade of the Brain.” He also founded the National Foundation for Brain Research, raising awareness and visibility for neurological disorders.
Recognized for his expertise, Mr. Hoffheimer was appointed Washington counsel for the National Parkinson Foundation, where he played a pivotal role in lobbying for the passage of the Morris K. Udall Bill. This landmark legislation secured $100 million in funding for Parkinson’s disease research, advancing efforts to uncover its causes and potential cures.
His dedication to the Parkinson’s community continued when he was elected President of the Parkinson Foundation for the National Capital Area, where he helped raise over $2 million for medical research. In 2006, Mr. Hoffheimer relocated to Sarasota and established the Parkinson Research Foundation, furthering his lifelong commitment to supporting individuals affected by Parkinson’s disease. Today, he remains actively involved as Chairman of the Parkinson Research Foundation, continuing to drive progress and innovation in Parkinson’s research and care.
